It's been far too long since I've been able to include my Electric 12 String in a live performance. I also had a new classical guitar to debut that had arrived the previous morning. The recent repair to my bouzouki also seems to be holding up. The sum was one of my most instrumentally wide-ranging sets ever. Other shenanigans ensued as well. Since my new guitar did not yet have a name, I held a contest. I played the song "Broccoli" and challenged those in attendance to answer some trivia questions about it, in particular, who did the song originally. (It was The Association). The song appeared on the album _The Association_, which was the band's fifth and possibly most obscure record. So, Patty, who got the most answsers right, won the privilege and named my new classical guitar "Kerry"! But wait! There's more! I also offered a prize for the best *wrong* answers to the quiz about the "mystery song". (That will be to name an instrument I'll be building in the future- out of spare parts I shall glean from an instrument graveyard I happen to live above). This was handily and decisively won by Sunita. I HAVE to share her answers here: 1) What is the name of the mystery song? The Celery Stalks at Midnight 2) Who is the mystery song's author? Peter Gabriel Rabbit 3) What is the name of the band who first recorded it? Echo and the Vampire Bunniculas 4) What is the name of the album on which it first appears? Sgt. Bell Peppers Lonely Artichoke Hearts 5) Which album # is this in the band's career? 37.12 6) Without lookiing them up, list as many hit songs by this band as you can in ~ a minute Getting Milk from a Parsnip Digging for Potatoes Bruce Stringbean Garden of Eden Reaching for the Kale Avocado's Number Fruitcakes and Vegetable Lasagne Fruits, Flakes, and Nuts Life is a Chair of Bowlies 7)For Five bonus points- have you ever seen this album in person? Tell the tale. I remember back in 1936, I was hitchhiking backwards on a one-way street in a no-name town called Elsmere. A jalopy of unknown vintage driven by a hobo of unknown character stopped to pick me up. Not because of altruism, nor even to pay tolls. He claimed he would get better gas mileage. Anyway, after I hoisted myself into the seat, he told me about his philosophy of life. He was an Entemarrian: he subsisted off those pre-made baked items found in every major grocery chain. Mini coffee cakes were given out on Tuesdays at Tuesdays at his church after service. Chocolate dipped mini donuts were what was given to children 8) FOR TEN BONUS POINTS- Do you have this album? This album sits on my nightside table, next to the lemon preserves. ---------------------------------------------------------------- That.Was.Amazing! I just want to say for the record, that I LOVE MY LISTENERS/FANS! If I could find just a few hundred more like you, my life would be complete! Not that it's at all shabby right now, mind you... Thanks everyone who tuned in and thanks always for the support!
